■ about me

I’m the guy in the 10 items or less lane who didn’t realize it was the 10 items or less lane and then felt bad about being in the 10 items or less lane accidentally even though I only had a diet coke and a hershey bar. But you don’t really care about that. You just want show tunes! Curtains up.

Gary: Your tribute to Rick was so special. I am sorry for what you are all going through. I live in San Antonio, so if you’re ever in town, feel free to give me a call.

hey, jeanette! how did we never have fatalities in those monopoly games? i’m back in phoenix now, so it’s a bit of a drive to get to san antonio, but maybe one day!

Gary, great tribute to the Smith boys, just as I remember them. I am just so sad and sorry that you are all experiencing this painful and extended goodbye. Alzheimer’s is so cruel. Thoughts and prayers to all from here in San Angelo. Thank God for great memories like these!

So many fond memories of the Smith boys growing up with the Peiser girls. Your article was so touching and Rick would be so impressed and touched by your words.

I have been a Rick Smith fan for many years and have eagerly watched for his articles about San Angelo history. What a sad void will be felt without his wonderful columns. Prayers for the entire family.

thanks, cathye. i think the best lesson rick has taught over the years is that you’re never gone as long as someone remembers you. he’ll be around for a long, long time.
