anne, my chainsaw-wielding niece, camps at bright angel campground at the grand canyon. using crampons and some poles she just snagged at the salvation army in flagstaff, she hikes 3 1/2 miles up the perilously snowy north kaibab trail each morning to the spot where they’re working on the trail. at the end of the day she hikes back to the bright angel. she got sprayed by a skunk.
i camp at my apartment. wearing an old golf shirt and a pair of jeans with a hole in the rear that gets a little bigger every day, i drive 15 miles up the perilously crowded u.s. 60 freeway each morning to the spot where i work on the newspaper. at the end of the day i drive back to my apartment. our cat tries to spray me but doesn’t seem to have the proper equipment.
being an adult sucks.
