Serious Training begins

OK, so I’ve been in the holiday lull.

But that changed yesterday. Serious Training began.

I have decided to enter the Pie Mile. I’m sure you’re familiar with event, much like a Beer Mile but with whipped cream added. Eat a slice of pie, run a quarter mile, eat slice, quarter mile, eat slice, quarter mile, eat slice, run quarter mile.

Yesterday was my first day of training. I ate four slices of pie at work. They were just sitting there in the break room. I’m proud to work in an environment that promotes physical fitness in this way.

In the same way that you separate the disciplines in triathlon training, I just ate pie without adding in the running portion. Better not to overdo it the first day.

Amazingly I woke up today not feeling sore at all. Can the Pie Marathon be far behind?

on a related note, the Clif Bar Corp., which brings you myrunshorts.com, recently posted up this link to the Eggnog Mile, which could well be the worst idea yet.

(warning: Mo says NOT to watch this.)

I’m apparently already training for the pie marathon. Have been using the ladle to scoop large quantities of fudge, peanut brittle, pralines, and chocolate bread pudding (with bourbon sauce) into my face.

I think we may have a new triathlon event – eating, sleeping, and running once in a while when we feel like it.

Can we do a Pi/Pie^2 Mile?? The total distance ran is 3.14159265358979323846264338327950288419716939937510582097494459230781640628620899862803482534211706798214808651……. miles exactly. The race would never end!!! We’d just keep moving less and less forward because we cant stop until we’ve ran Pi for Pie. If you run more than pi then you’re not allowed more pie ever again. The math nerd in me is drooling over this ∞ race!

    • my garmin would show the course to be .000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 short.

      i sometimes worry about you.

Notwithstanding Mo’s admonition, the “eggnog video” is highly recommended for those whose New Year’s resolutions include swearing off eggnog.
