steep thoughts by jack handey

There has been some skepticism as to the hilly nature of runs in Corpus Christi. Here is the elevation change in a typical run.

And this does NOT include the climb going from sea level to 1,950 feet just to get to the trailhead.

I have run the Leadville Marathon, and I have run the trail along the beach in Corpus, and comparing the two I can honestly say that the current incarnation of “Saturday Night Live” is not very funny. Why don’t they just cough up the cash and bring John Belushi and Gilda Radner back, dammit?

So there.

And, yes, we have breakfast tacos at every aid station here …

How do I sign up for this race?

  2. Jenster! says:

Fact: Breakfast tacos taste better when they are served by someone in a sombrero who is obviously recovering from a tequila hang over.

  3. Maggynolia says:

Well, now that you have provided this indisputable proof of hills in your coastal Texas town, I sure feel silly for doubting you. Hmmm…. breakfast tacos…..

    • fyi: steph (the race director) also lives in houston and makes breakfast tacos exclusively with free-range potatoes. so you could avoid the $80 entry fee and just buy tacos directly from her.

      • Stephanie says:

I make sure all potatoes used in my breakfast tacos are allowed to roam freely, and treated very humanely. We keep them nestled in the finest dirt. Stop on by and get some breakfast tacos anytime you’re in Houston. Mr. Peabody may even play a mean game of Checkers with you…

  4. Stephanie says:

I hear while that gal is a shady character, and a bit of a tequila guzzler.. she does direct a mean race and make a meaner breakfast taco…
