i think i know why they call it the hill country

You know it’s going to be a good run when neither the park nor the road it’s on show up on your map. And it was.

The ranger said I was the only hiker they had all day. I’m not sure if that was a congratulations or a warning. It was just me and the rocks. A communion with nature in front of a chorus of sotol.

If someone asked me what trail running was supposed to be like, I would answer “ummm, errrrr, i’m shy go away please.”

But I’d be thinking of this trail.

Someone really should hold a race here …

While that looks like an awesome place to run, having seen those plants guarding the trail raises a question. Do you run through there with chain mail to protect yourself from the sotol?

  2. i think you’re supposed to embrace the sotol.
