or maybe a new compression hat

Turn off that computer! you don’t need new shoes!

Yes, I do. I can’t run. These new shoes will fix everything.

Why?

They’re moderately cushioned! They have a slight medial post! They’re blue!

And?

They have a lightweight breathable upper, AND a moisture drainage system. It might rain here someday, you know.

What’s the point?

My ITB will be cured! My left knee will stop aching!

Why?

Because they’re new shoes! Why aren’t you getting this?

Have you looked in the closet? What about last week’s shoes? And the shoes the week before that? And this box of shoes you wore once before discarding?

That was different! These are NEW shoes!

And why are these different?

These are the same shoes I wore when I was young! I was fast and never had injuries! I have no idea what I was thinking when I switched shoes 522 times since then.

Have you considered the problem may not be the shoes at all? Maybe the problem is YOU? That you’re just denying reality with a revolving door of shoes that allows you pass the blame?

Nope. Gotta be the shoes. Two days. You’ll see.

And if that doesn’t work?

Maybe it’s the shorts. Yeah, that’s it. I wonder if I can find those split shorts I used to wear …

Found my way here from RW Loop. Just spent an hour (or more) (at work) reading your posts here. Thank you for taking the time to do what you do. It’s good stuff. — Scott
