the Year of Fleshman

“When you recognize that failing doesn’t make you a failure,” the prophet Fleshman wrote, “you give yourself permission to try all sorts of things.”

Today’s all sorts of thing was a 12-minute mile. It felt fine, in an oh my god i’m going to die sort of way. i love that feeling.

It’s a long way from 12:00 pace for one mile to 9:39 pace for a 30-minute 5k. Maybe I don’t have it in me anymore. But then maybe I do. Only one way to find out.

I’m OK with it either way. The only thing that matters is trying. Failing won’t make me a failure.

The prophet Fleshman said so.
